"Best Catch" sponging technique with glycerin

Image
I was perusing a few Facebook posts this morning and saw a new sponging technique that I want to share with you, using glycerin!  It makes the sponging of inks on the card stock go so much smoother.  I had been wanting to try a outdoor scene with the "Best Catch" bundle*, from the 2019 Occasions catalog and thought, why not kills to birds with one stone! I put together a little video, showing how to do the glycerin sponging while making this card. I used 3 different stamp sets, "Best Catch",  "Rooted in Nature" &  "High Tide". I used the "Best Catch" coordinating Framelits  "Catch of the Day" and also the new  "Rectangular Stitched Framelits" , also available in the 2019 Occasions catalog. DIMENSIONS: Whisper White card stock: 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4", card base 4" x 5-1/4" sponged card layer 2" x 3-3/4", fisherman 2-1/4" x 2-1/...

"Best Catch" - For You, Dad

I wanted to try the "Best Catch" bundle again but this time with my watercolor pencils.  Yesterday I wasn't sure what kind of fish it was, but, after living in Alaska for 8 years, I thought maybe it looked like a Salmon.  So I Goggled salmon, and tried to make it look like a pink salmon.  I think this one turned out a little better.  I had a little more control with the color and the colors are a little more subtle. The previous card I chose Pumpkin Pie for the underbelly of the fish, this time I used, my favorite, Flirty Flamingo. The rest of the fish is colored in Old Olive. I wanted to try the fishing fly this time too.  There are so many cool dies and stamps in this set.  I still have to try the fly fisherman in maybe a daytime scene.  You can't really tell but the background layer, in Crumb Cake is actually a piece of DSP from the Tranquil Textures pack and then I ran it through the Big Shot with the Basket Weave embossing fold...

Best Catch! Great Masculine bundle!

I took a poll on my Facebook Group page (Cottage Lane Stamper and Friends) what they wanted to see next from the new Occasions catalog.  This was their choice, unanimously!  "Best Catch", on page 44 .  The Thinlets include some cute dies, fly fish hooks, smaller fish, some cattails, and fisherman.  The stamps use the new Distinktive stamp process.     " Distinktive  stamps create different opacities in a single stamped image for realistic depth and intensity."  They catalog has a blue icon by the stamp set to indicate that it is Distinktive.  Here's the bundle: Best Catch bundle #150605, $43.50 Save 10% by purchasing the bundle I CASE'd this from Tracy Gray, who CASE'd it from Shelly Gardner, our co-founder of Stampin' Up!  She displayed it a our November 2018 OnStage conference. I changed Tracy's up a little, since I didn't have everything that she had, but it's basically the same.  She water colored hers....

Geared Up Garage! Birthday

As soon as I saw this in the new Occasions catalog I new that I had to have it.  There are so few masculine card sets that I like.  This one is part of a suite of products, called "Classic Garage".  It's on page 43 of the catalog. xWhat makes is a Suite instead of a Bundle.  A bundle is the stamp set and coordinating dies or punch.  A suite comes with coordinating DSP (Designer Series Paper), embellishments and ribbon.  Each suite would have different coordinating items. Classic Garage Suite pg. 43 My son-in-law has a birthday this week and is a car buff so I thought of him when I saw it (even though it looks more like a Mustang than a Camaro, haha, he's a Chevy guy). I love all the options that the dies have!  Lots of gears, a car emblem,a gasoline can, tool box and car signs.  My only wish is that it had a birthday greeting to go with it, though it does have a Father's Day sentiment. I used the one tha...
