Celebrating You

Last night I went to my monthly Stampin' Up class with my upline, Candy.  We usually make 4 cards but since we didn't meet in December we are making up for that month and made 6 cards in about 1-1/2 hours.  Can you believe that?  Over the next few days I'll be sharing with you the cards that we made.  I think they are all adorable. (the paperclip is not part of the card, I did that so it would stay closed while I took a photo of it.)
Along with the "Remembering Your Birthday" stamp set, from our Annual catalog we used the "Birthday Bouquet Designer Paper".  We used two of the paper designs for this card. Don't the ice cream cones look adorable.

The base card is Red Rose, and the embellishments are silver glitter ribbon and small "Metallic Foil Doilies". The sentiment is stamped in "Mint Macaron" on Whisper White cardstock.

The left side, card base is 6-1/4" wide by 4-1/4" tall, scored at 2-1/4", forming the flap on the left side with the polka dot DSP.  The flap on the right side is 7" wide by 4-3/4" tall, scored in half at 3-1/2".

  • Affixed polka dot DSP measuring 6x4", to the left flap, with Snail Adhesive, SU Glue Stick  or Tombow glue.
  • After stamping the sentiment (TIP: I always stamp before affixing, that way if I mess up my stamping I can flip it over and stamp on the other side)
  • Affix the white card stock to the smaller Rose card that you have scored in half.  (This will open to the right so make sure you affix to what would normally be the back side.)
  • Glue the Ice Cream Cone DSP, cut to 3-1/4" x 2-1/2", to the bottom of the white card stock
  • Wrap the ribbon around the white card stock to cover the seam.
  • Affix the Metallic Foil Doily and then making a box out of the Silver Glitter Ribbon, glue that to the medallion.
  • With the smaller card folded half, put some adhesive on the back, then line the right side up with the right side of the base, centering it from top to bottom.
  • To stamp an inside sentiment, cut a piece of white card stock 5-1/4"x 4" and pick out your favorite sentiment and stamp in Mint Macaron.

Voila!  Your card is done.  Isn't it just stinking cute?

As always, I appreciate your comments.  If you would like a catalog, please email me and I will be sure to send you one.

"There's Always Time for Tea"

Do you ever have an idea and when you start working on it become unsure of if it will work?  That was today.

I wanted the background layer to look like a homespun table cloth that I have.

First I cut a sheet of Pool Party Card stock in half to make a A2 size card.  Then scored it in half with the scoring blade on my Stampin' Up paper trimmer.

I took a piece of white card stock and cut it 4" x 5.25". With the remainder of the Pool Party card stock I cut 7 strips 5.25" long and 1/8" wide and 5 strips 4" long and 1/8" wide .

TIP: I love the Stampin' Up Paper Trimmer because it has measurements on the right side of the cutter, which makes this much easier to cut smaller strips of paper.

I  wove the horizontal strips with the vertical strips after securing the horizontal strips with glue dots on both ends. I secured the long strip with a glue dot after it was woven. I found it easier to lift the horizontal strip with my paper piercer when going underneath the vertical strips . (Sorry I didn't measure the spaces between the strips, I usuall eyeball everything)

After the weaving was done I ran it through my Big Shot using a Sizzix embossing folder that I had called Square Lattice to give it the texture that I wanted.  To give the  ends of my "tablecloth" a fringed look I used my Fringe Scissors and cut the ends probably about 1/16" in. I  used "Dimensionals" to secured the "tablecloth" to the "Pool Party" card base

I stamped the "There's Always Time for Tea" image in "Pool Party" ink from the "A Nice Cuppa"  stamp set onto the white card stock, cut 3" X 4.25". This photopolymer stamp set is from the Stampin' Up Occasions Catalog. I then stamped the lemon image in "Crushed Curry" and also the little tea bag paper (what is that called anyway?) and then cut them out by hand and secured them using "Dimensionals"

  •  TIP: Make sure that you use the Stampin' Up Paper Piercing mat with your Photopolymer stamps for a better image. Place a sheet of scrap paper on the mat and then your card stock on top of that to keep your mat clean and stamp.
I was really wishing that I had bought the "Curvy Corner Trio Punch " I thought the one corner on the punch would have been nice to repeat the white sections in the lemon on the corners of the stamped image card stock.  But since I didn't buy it (yet) I tried to improvise using a couple other punches which didn't work out so I cut them off at an angle with my scissors.  After I did that I thought it looked like a teabag paper. I pierced a hole at the top, took some white bakers twine and threaded it through the top, making a knot, and then threaded the twine underneath the stamped image so it would come out the bottom.  I used a dot of Tombow Multipurpose glue at the top arch of the twine to secure it in place.  (The Stampin' Up Fine Glue pen would also work great for this.)

It didn't turn out half bad.  What do you think?

"Tea Time"

I love this bundle from the Stampin' Up 2016 Occasions Catalog.  I fell in love with it from the minute I saw it and couldn't wait to get it and use it.   The stamp set is "A Nice Cuppa" and the Framelit set is "Cups and Kettles". I bought the bundle, which saves you 15% on both.  The matching paper (DSP designer series paper) is "Have a Cuppa" stack.

This is my first card from it.The base of the card is "Melon Mambo" card stock and the background layer is some DSP that I have from last  year that went with the "Painted Petals" stamp set.  I sponged it with some "Melon Mambo" ink.

I used the tea cup framelit and cut out the tea cup and then used the bottom of the tea cup and cut a sliver out of white and attached it with a glue dot to the bottom of the back of the tea cup.. For the saucer I used the Large Oval punch.

It was calling out for some silverware and a newspaper. So I cut out a small square from the 'Typeset" DPS and lightly folded it and secured it with a glue dot.

The napkin is just a small square cut from some paper towel and folded.  The silverware, was a puzzle.  I couldn't think of any paper that I had that would work, for me anyway.  Then I remembered I had some tape that I found in my late husband's garage stash.  Not sure what it's called, it's found a your local Home Depot or Lowe's.  It has adhesive on the back so I cut a length of about 2" from it, attached it to a scrap of cardstock and ran the pieces through my Big Shot.

There were marks on the silverware from the holes to separate the paper from the framelit.  I liked them on the handle to give it some texture, but didn't want them on the tines, blade or bowl so I took my bonefolder and just smoothed them out.

The teabag I stamped in "Tip Top Taupe" then found a heart that was small enough in my "Just Saying" stamp set and stamped it in "Melon Mambo" in the center of the little box.

The steam heart I cut out of velum, but white would work too.  It would be nice with a little "Wink of Stella" to give it some sparkle.

The sentiment, I stamped again in "Melon Mambo", stamping off once and the again used the "Large Oval" punch.
