January 2018 Paper Pumpkin Alternate "Heartfelt Love Notes"

I have to admit I saw this idea on a Facebook page for demonstrators and love it.  I thought it would be such a cute idea to tuck in the Valentines cards for my daughter's family.  All five of them love books from the 4 year old to the almost 12 year old as well as the parents.

When I made these I used a some retired stamp and Framelit sets as well as current and parts from the January Paper Pumpkin kit.  I will list them below.  But I'm sure you would want to personalize these for your own friends or family.

This is what the cards look like using the instructions in the kit:

Images: Stampin' Up!©

Cut the pocket card at a diagonal on the bottom. Then on the other half cut about one inch from the rounded end, all the way across, creating another triangle and secure one of the sides with some Tear & Tape.

The top left uses the new "Apron of Love" from the 2018 Occasions catalog, this one is for my daughter, who loves to bake and is stamped with a baking mitt and with "I ♥ baking". The hearts are cut with the "Sweet & Sassy Heart" Framelits

The top right one is for my son-in-law, who loves working with his hands when he's not working as a computer engineer.  I used the retired "Build It" Framelits for the Smoky Slate sentiments and Basic Gray background for the tools.  The foil pieces, nut, screw and screw head are also from this set.  The wrenches are stamped from "Guy Greetings" in the current annual catalog, stamped in Basic Gray and fussy cut.

The bottom left is for my oldest grandson who, it appears, is following in his father's footsteps and has been writing computer code for over a year.  He's always wearing his headphones when he's doing this. The stamp set is from the Sale-a-bration catalog, which you can only get with a qualifying purchase.  The set is called "Epic Celebrations". The banner is punched with the Everyday Punch and trimmed down a little.

The bottom middle bookmark is for my youngest grandson, I didn't have a truck, train or toy car so I chose at panda from the current Sale-a-bration catalog that you can only earn with a qualifying purchase.  It's called "Party Pandas".  An adorable set with three different pandas all in party mode. The banner is from the January Paper Pumpkin kit.

The far right bottom bookmark is for my middle grandson who LOVES penguins.  For his bookmark I used the retired Holiday catalog bundle "Snow Place" and "Snow Friends" Framelits.  The vellum heart is from the January Paper Pumpkin kit.  (If you have the "Sure Do Love You" bundle the current Occasions catalog the Framelit heart is the same size as what is in the Paper Pumpkin kit.)

Heartfelt Love Notes - January 2018 Paper Pumpkin and alternate

Hi all, it's hard to believe that Valentine's day is right around the corner. The January Paper Pumpkin is a beautiful, elegant kit.  Not your typical red valentines.

This month's Paper Pumpkin kit has black pocket cards 8 with white stripes and 8 with tiny copper foil hearts. Calypso Coral and Rich Razzelberry are the accent colors..  There are also highlights of copper foil on the white tags.

Join me as I unpack this month's kit:

"Barn Door" bundle by Stampin' Up!

Hi ya'll.  Today is a great day in Minnesota, it's going to be about 40 degrees!  And it's January!

Well, it's one of those nights when I can't sleep past 4:30, so I  get up and go to my craft room and play with one of my new toys from the 2018 Occasions catalog.  This morning I chose the Barn Door bundle.

When I first saw this set, I knew I wanted it.  I love old barns,  so I chose a DSP, that's retired, unfortunately, that looked weather, like an old barn.  Though to be honest, I've not seen a lot of blue barns.  :-)

If you are a fan of any of the HGTV shows, like Fixer Upper (love Chip and Joanna Gaines), and other shows like that, you've probably noticed that barn doors on the inside are very popular!

I love it when a stamp set has dual sentiments, one for the front and one for the inside.  Or in this case, one for the left and one for the right.

I put together a little video so you can see how this goes together.

Supplies:

Very Vanilla cardstock:
  • 5-1/2" x 4-1/4"
  • 2 pcs. 1-1/2" x2"
  • scrap pieces for flowers

Basic Gray
  • 1" x 6"
Flirty Flamingo

Sure Do Love You, Every Single Day

Hi!  I can't wait to share with you one of the cards we made in my regular classes this month.  We used the "Sure Do Love You" bundle from the "Painted with Love" Suite in the 2018 Occasions catalog.

Remember this is also Sale-a-bration time, so with every $50 purchase from the Occasions or Annual catalog you get to pick one free item from the Sale-a-bration catalog and there are so many cute things to choose from.  I'll share with you in a later post a stamp that that everybody LOVES!

I absolutely love this DSP, if you are a DSP hoarder like me I will order some more before the catalog expires in March.

On the card in the photo I used some Rich Razzleberry ribbon.  In the video you will see me using the gold tinsel that is also in the suite.

I used Glue Dots to secure the ribbon to the DSP, then used snail for the gold foil heart and the white heart, stamped in Berry Burst, is popped up with some Dimensionals.

I have another video that shows how I make the box, with the Framelit shown below.  It's a pretty fast card to put together if you wanted to make a bunch to send out to family and friends.

I also used some gold heart sequins that I had on hand.  In this Suite of products are some very similar gold dots.  I have a ton of these hearts to thought this would be a good place to use them.

Supplies:

Berry Burst cardstock,  8.5" x 5.5" scored at 4.25"
Painted with Love DSP: 4" x 5.25"
Gold Foil paper: 2" x 3"
Whisper White paper, 2" x 3" and 4" x 5.25" for the inside
Tinsel or Ribbon: 12"
Glue Dots

Stamping a Three Layer Image - A nicer image, a little more work.

This week in our class one of our cards was a card where you have 3 layers of white cardstock of different sizes and then stamp all three layers at once.

This is the card we made with the beautiful stamp, "Heartfelt Blooms" from our 2018 Sale-a-bration catalog.  (This photo does not do justice to the stamp image.

I found when stamping the three layers of white cardstock that there were spaces between each layer, up to 1/4".  One of my ladies was a little dissatisfied with this result, as was I.  So I tried to find a solution. So this is for you Amanda!

The way the I found to get around this is a little time consuming but it does create better result.

This might give you a better idea of what I am talking about.  If you look closely you will see the white spaces on the top right hand corner.  I think my card is a little crooked because I tried to make it match better on the bottom.

You will need a Misti (I haven't gotten my new Stamparatus yet!).  A sheet of Stampin' Up! grid paper.

I changed the measurements from the card that I found online so that there is 1/4" different between each layer.

You will need your colored cardstock in these dimensions:
  • 8-1/4" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4;
  • 4-3/4" x 3-1/2"
  • 4-1/4 x 2-3/4"
Whisper White cardstock:
  • 5" x 3-3/4"
  • 4--1/2" x 3-1/4
  • 4" x 2-3/4"
Starting with your largest piece of card stock, place it in the upper right hand corner, as shown below.

Position your stamp on the paper where you want it, then swing it back and ink up the stamp.

This is what it looks like after you stamp the first image.

With your middle sized piece of cardstock, move it down and over 1/4", this is where the grid paper comes in handy. Make sure to hold it in place with the magnets.  With the stamp in the same position, reink the stamp and close the lid.

This is what the second piece looks like after the stamp is applied.

Place the smallest piece of cardstock 1/2" down and 1/2" over from the edges of the Misti. Ink up the pad and stamp.

This is what the third piece looks like.

Now here we had a technical difficulty with my camera.  I took shots of all the layers and dimensions, but for some reason they didn't record and I didn't realize this until I had already put it together. But the dimensions are all listed above.

This is the finished card.  I think it turned out much better.

The colors I used are Berry Burst an incolor 2017-2019.  The ink used is Night of Navy.

I'd love to hear if this has helped you.

Lots To Love Box with Framelits by Stampin' Up!©

I hope you get a chance to check out the 2018 Occasions catalog!  There are some beautiful products there.  One of my favorites is the Painted with Love Suite, that include stamps, Framelits, DSP (Designer Series Paper), embellishments, darling spools of tinsel ribbon in Powder Pink (though it looks like Rich Razzelberry to me) and gold.

I love, love, love the beautiful DSP with its gold foil flourishes on one side of each sheet.  I believe the each sheet was actually painted by hand and then reproduced as our beautiful designer paper.

This beautiful Suite of products are on page 18 of The 2018 Occasions catalog  https://su-media.s3.amazonaws.com/media/catalogs/2018%20Occasions%20Catalog/20180103_OCC18_en-US.pdf

One of the adorable things in the catalog is a "Lots to Love" box.  You can use it for some treats or a little gift.  There are even some note cards and envelopes that fit inside the box.

Here are some ideas from our CEO, Sara Douglass, decorating the cards and envelopes on her FB page. https://www.facebook.com/asarathing/videos/1829163117108632/

I put a video together showing how quick this goes together.  Oh, you don't have to do the window in the front.  I just thought this would be cute filled with some Conversation Heart candies.

The DSP was cut to 5" x 6-1/2" and the window sheet was cut to 3" x 3".
