First Class!

I'm a fairly new demonstrator and last night I had my first class for clients/friends.  I really had a lot of fun showing them the cards and helping them create them.  I do admit I did have to slap my hands once or twice to not take over!  Sometimes I try to be too helpful..

I had two people, one a close friend who just wants to make cards and a new friend that found me through my Stampin' Up! website and my class calendar.  She said I was the only one who had anything on my calendar in our town.  So that was good for me and I hope for her.

We made 2 cards and one project, a treat bag.

The SU treat bag Thinlet is going away the end of May (or until supplies last) and it is one of my favorite projects to do.  It's so versatile.  We used the Ornate Tag punch (retiring May 31st) and three flower stamp sets and the corresponding flower punches.  The paper is some retired paper from 2015 Occasions catalog.

  • Pink flower is stamped in the new 2016-2017 Flirty Flamingo (my new fav color). The stamp set is retired Petal Potpourri (supplies ran out), the punch is Flower Medallion
  • The green flower is stamped on Mint Macaron with Mint Macaron ink.  The stamp set is Flower Shop and the punch is Pansy (one of my favorites), these come in a bundle, which is the way to go.
  • The little yellow flower is stamped on and with Crushed Curry.  The stamp set is Petite Petals and the punch by the same name also sold in a bundle.
  • The sentiment, "So Sweet" is from the photopolymer SU Hello Life set.
  • The flower stack was then attached with a Dimensional to the tag
  • The tag was then clipped to the treat bag with a tiny clothes pin.
I just love the cheeriness of this little treat bag.  We embellished it with a white Candy Dot and a little hemp string through the top of the tag.  We also used some of the Flirty Flamingo (New 2017 color available June 1) and sponged the edges to give it a little dimension.

Since it's getting close to Father's Day we made a Father's Day card and like my friend, our fathers are no longer with us, mine passed this last January at the age of 91!  So she made hers a masculine birthday card.

  • The bottom card layer is Chocolate Chip with a Crumb Cake layer.  The Crumb Cake layer was stamped with the compass from The Open Sea stamp set.
  • The top two layers are again Chocolate Chip and Whisper White cut to 2x3 and 2.25 x 3.25.  The Whisper White layer we used the ships log from the Open Sea set and Soft Suede, stamping off once before stamping on the Whisper White.
  • The ship was stamped with Soft Suede and also the sentiment.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.
  • Using a blender pen and some Night of Navy we made a little "water" below the ship.
  • After adhering the ship layer to the Chocolate Chip we took a little of the hemp thread, about 6" and folded it in half and tied a soft knot in the center, then taped that to the back of this layer, on each corner. Using Dimensionals, attached this to the Crumb Cake layer.
  • We marked the corners for the brads and with the 1/16" circle punch made holes, then inserted the bronze colored brads.  Using Dimensionals attached this to the Whisper White card.

The third card is a sympathy card, one of several that  I came up with for my massage therapist who needed one.  Made a few so she would have a variety to choose from.

This one was the most simple of all and rather elegant I thought.

The stamp set for this is Thoughts & Prayers, which is a good deal, two stamps sets for the one price.

  • The base is Tip Top Taupe (retiring), the top layer is Whisper White.  I found this retired oval embossing folder and we embossed the top third of the card.
  • Then stamped the sentiment in Tip Top Taupe (retiring).
  • We then took the flower stamp and stamped off once, with Tip Top Taupe and stamped it twice on the white layer.
  • Using about 6" of  Dotted Lace in Tip Top Taupe (retiring),  we wrapped this around the bottom of the card, taped it to the back. Then took another 4" piece tied it around the first piece, making a little knot, not too tight though.
Hope I didn't forget anything.  If I did please let me know and I'll update.  Would love to hear your comments.

If you don't have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator I would love to have that privilege.  The new catalogs are coming out June 1st!  If you have ordered from me in the past year I will make sure that you get one.

Thanks again and have a blessed day!

Let Us Drink Together

I've been a little remiss in posting lately.  Have had a lot on my plate.  My mom was in the hospital for a week and then the nursing home.  I handle all of her financial and health issues, besides being there for her when she needs help.  Thankfully I have a niece to takes her to her appointments and errands.  We live 100 miles apart.  That being said, my plate has been a little full lately.

In the midst of all this I was preparing for my open house.  I made some treats (mini chocolate cupcakes, mini lime cheesecakes, and I tried to make some mini cream puffs, but had trouble with them, I think I took them out too early, so ended up buying those.) Everyone made three different cards.  I also had  displays of the other 3D projects and some other card ideas.  We all had a lot of fun.

Yesterday I went into my craft loft and came up with this.  I love, love, love the stamp set "A Nice Cuppa" and the matching die set "Kettles & Cups" from the 2016 Sale-a-bration catalog.

I paired "Kettles & Cups" die set (from Sale-a-bration catalog) with the sentiments from "Balloon Celebrations" stamps set.

The card base is some retired paper, Pretty in Pink, the base layer is Tip Top Taupe, cut to 5.25" x 4"

The white layer is 5" x 3.75"  I punched the corners with the Curvy Trio Punch (which is retiring the end of May).  (Here's a link to the retiring list make sure to check it out there are a lot of products, especially punches that are retiring)

http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/sharonbrennan/promotions

I stamped hearts in Pink Pirouette, randomly, on this to add a little color.  The heart is also from the "A Nice Cuppa" stamp set.

I used three papers from the "Love Blossoms" DSP stack and cut the mugs out using the "Kettles & Cups" die set.  I turned one of the papers over so that I could get a mug handle going the other directions. I then cut out the spoon out of some metallic tape that I had.

Love the sentiments on the Balloons Celebrations, Coffee, Tea & Hot Chocolate.  I stamped these on the mugs in Tip Top Taupe.  The center mug I attached a Dimensional to.

The lace is Tip Top Taupe Dotted Lace (also retiring).  I taped this to the back of the white layer.

I stamped the "Come Let Us Drink Together" from the "Balloon Celebrations" set onto Pretty In Pink in "Early Espresso" and attached that with a Dimensional. It was cut out with a retired "Just Saying" Framelit set.

I hope you like the way this turned out as much as I do.
