6" x 6" One Sheet Wonder with 'Tis The Season DSP

Don't you love it when you can make the most of your beautiful Designer Series Paper?  I do!  I found this beautiful layout on Pinterest and CASE'D it from Nicole Belesimo from a few years ago.

Start out with one sheet of 6" x 6" DSP and cut it in half.

Then cut each of the 3" pieces into the dimensions shown in the photo. The panels are number from left to right, top to bottom for the corresponding card.

Then cut your layering cardstock (Cherry Cobbler) into the following dimensions.

Card 1: 3-1/4" x 2-1/4" (one piece)

Card 2: 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" (one piece)

Card 3: 2" x 5" (one piece secondary color/Garden Green) & 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" (three pieces)

Card 4: 2-1/2" x 1-3/4" (two pieces)

Card 5: 1-3/4" x 1-1/4" (four pieces)

Card 6: 3-1/4 x 2" (one piece)

Background layer:

5 pieces 4" x 5-1/4" (Garden Green)

Card Bases:

3 pieces of Whisper White 8-1/2" x 11" cardstock, cut in half (5-1/2") and scored at 4-1/4"

After cutting the DSP and the background layer, glue them together. I had mine all on a pile on my desk and it got to be a little bit of a discombobulation!

For card three I ran the horizontal layer through my embossing machine with the Wrapped in Texture embossing folder.  Then I also trimmed the back of the Garden Green layer with some narrow strips of Cherry Cobbler that I had left over from another project.  I save all my strips for things like this.  No sense wasting a whole piece of cardstock.

I also wrapped the ribbon around the front at this point.

Then I layered the outside panel pieces onto the front first and then centered the middle one between these two. I tried it with the middle one first but this worked much better.
Here are the rest of the cards.  They are pretty each to figure out.  I think if I did it a second time.

I chose to emboss the card with White Embossing Powder, I think it set off the sentiments a little bit more and inking them, except for Card 4 which is stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

The stamp set I used is Poinsettia Petals for the sentiments. I also used the dies for the little berries and branches on Card 6.

Gate Fun Fold with "Trimming The Town" Oct. 27, 2020 FB Live

Well there is always a hiccup with my FB lives!  Today I was on my one personal page instead of my Cottage Lane Stamper & Friends page!  Ufda!

I love this suite for several reasons.  1. The dies match some of the images on the DSP, as you'll see in the video.  2. The dies and stamps can be used all year round, not just Christmas.  3. They make a great "new home" card, and those images are hard to find.  4.  Who doesn't love the "bug" car!!!!  Adorable.

I CASE'd this card from Simone Bartrum.  Thank you Simone for the inspiration!

Score @ 1-3/4", then at the 4-1/4" score line from the first score line, then move the cardstock over so the 4-1/4" score line, lines up with the 1-3/4" score line then cut that 1" piece off.  Save this piece to die cut the backing trees.

Easy Color Wash Background for gorgeous Gather Together metallic leaves

I saw a technique the other day, with alcohol markers and a window sheet that gave a beautiful watercolor background.  But for the life of me I couldn't get it to work, sadly.  It seemed to dry out too quickly for me, even when I spritzed it with the alcohol.  Changed the game plan a little bit and used one of my larger clear blocks and some shimmer paper.

If you wanted to use a larger piece of paper you could used the largest clear block F which measures 4-7/8" x 6".  In this video I used our clear block E, which measures 3-7/16" x 4-7/16".

I think it turned out beautifully!

Here's a video on how I did it, if this video does not show up on your phone here is the YouTube link.  Google has changed something in Blogger and videos aren't showing up on phones like they used to.

One thing I forgot in the video was die cutting the color wash piece with one of my Rectangular Stitched dies.  It does give it a more finished look.  The one shown here is the one I did in the video.

This is also the first time that I tried to heat emboss on foil.  I think it turn out pretty well!

TIP: remember if you are die cutting something in the same color as your background layer.  Cut your pieces from the background layer.  It's going to get covered up anyway, you'll save on cardstock and no one will be any the wiser!  Smart Stamper!

Here are the supplies and dimensions:

Whisper White cardstock: 8-1/2" x 11", scored at 4-1/4"
Shimmery White cardstock: 4-1/2" x 3-1/4 (you should be able to die cut this piece) if you choose.
Brushed Metallic cardstock, I used gold here: 4-3/4" x 3-1/2"

The dimensions for the Shimmery White and the metallic paper are a little larger that what I shared in the video, this is to allow for the die cutting of the Shimmery White, should you choose.  I would suggest doing your color wash first and then die cutting, to allow for any white areas on the edges of your layer.
