Sweet Sundae Confection with Suite Sentiments

Has this ever happened to you?  Get a great idea for a card right before you  wake up?  Well, that's what happened to me.  I'm not sure what triggered it.  Food has been on my mind lately since I found out that I have a gluten intolerance, so no ice cream cones.  :-(  But I woke up with the concept of an ice cream sundae with a sundae cup made with vellum and using my scallop punch for the top and bottom of the cup.  That's all I had.

After a few hours, of trial and error and one more night's sleep this is my card:

First I made a template for the glass body and the glass foot.  I had a little trouble getting the scallops to come out without little edges and the angle of the glass.  Finally I got it to work.  The glass is made of vellum. I also tried to use some acetate but the acetate wouldn't punch.  I even tried a retired edgelit on the acetate but it wouldn't cut through.  So I went back to the vellum.

I used a 3" x 4" piece of vellum for the glass and a 1-3/4" x 2" piece of vellum for the foot of the glass.  When I punched the scallops I made sure the leading edge was just a little in from the beginning of the scallop punch so that I would get a whole scallop. I then drew a line, at an angle toward the base of the glass.  I used the bottom part of the glass to use as a guide for the top of the foot and then angle that out wider to the scallop for the base.

I used a 1-1/2" circle punch for the ice cream and embossed them with the Softly Falling embossing folder.  The colors I chose for the ice cream scoops are Pear Pizzazz, a retired pink and Early Espresso.  The DSP layer is a beautiful, soft color from Fruit Stand.  It has some variegation to it which I love! The white base is dry embossed with the Confetti folder.

I wanted a "sweet" saying so I searched my stash and low and behold I found one that I just bought from the Occasions catalog!  Suite Sentiments.  This set might be a little overlooked, but it has a lot of wonderful little sentiments.  It's on page 54 of the 2017 Occasions catalog. It also coordinates with the Love Note's Framelits, also from the same catalog.

The spoon is from last year's Occasions Catalog, Cups and Kettles Framelits, and I die cut from foil.

The front sentiment is stamped and then die cut with the Stitched Shapes smallest circle and then another circle is punched out of the same DSP with the 1-1/2" circle punch. They are all stamped with Early Espresso.

I used a bit of the same DSP for a 1/4" strip for the bottom inside of the card.  I really love this DSP, I'm going to have to find another card to make with it.

A couple little commercials

If you like this card it is available for purchase through my Etsy Store, CottageLaneStamper, along with many others:   https://www.etsy.com/shop/CottageLaneStamper?ref=hdr_shop_menu

Sale-a-Bration is still going on for another 40 days! It ends March 31. Don' miss out on the best deals of the year.  For every $50 you get to choose a free item from the Sale-a-Bration catalog!  It's also the best time of year to become a demonstrator, if only to earn the discounts.

Also, for my customers, whether online or in person, I have a rewards program.  For every $30 you spend, you receive a punch on your rewards card!  After 10 punches you get $10 off your next order. That's cash money and who doesn't like that!   Couple that with your Sale-a-brations purchases, well, like the sundae, it's just one good thing on top of another!

New items added Sale-a-bration, Feb 21!

February 21st Stampin' Up! is adding 3 more items to the 2017 Sale-a-Bration catalog!  Today I thought I'd give you a sneak peak at my favorite one!

It's a new stamp set called Reverse Words and you can get it free with an order over $50.  I've combined it with another free stamp set from the Sale-a-Bration catalog, Avant Garden.  The Reverse Words stamp set is the cheers words carved out in, what to me, looks like a swash of watercolor!  I love this.  So simple.

I stamped it in Calypso Coral and then hit it with some clear embossing powder.  Using the leaf stamp from the Avant Garden set and the little dew drops (that's what I'm calling them), both in Pear Pizzazz.  The base layer is also Calypso Coral and the card base is Pear Pizzazz.  I really love these two colors together.

Hint, hint to my class members, we might be making this one next week.  Shush, don't tell anyone. Hehe.

The other stamp in this set says "hooray" in lower case script.  Here's another sneak peak!

Also added to the Sale-a-Bration catalog, to be released on Feb 21 are some gorgeous glimmer papers:

as well as another stamp set called Make a Medallion:

So if these pique your interest and you have a wish list started, be patient and next week you will be able to order them!  That's one of the great things about being a demonstrator, we get to try them out early and start playing with them!

If you are thinking about becoming a demonstrator, this is THE best time to join!  For only $99 you get to pick your own starter kit (which is a $26 savings), the shipping is free and you get two extra stamp sets FREE!  Can't beat that!!!

Valentine Treat Mail Box

Even though Valentine's is upon us.  In a previous post I promised that I would supply the directions to the little mailbox that holds two Hershey Nuggets.  I bet you could even use 4 Hershey Miniatures if you wanted.

I got the directions from one of my team mates at a recent event who CASE'D them from Jan Stamping Creations. Thank you Christine Pierce! Here are the directions.

Valentine Mailbox Nugget Treat Holder

January 2017
You know I LOVE treat holders and I’ve seen a few of these on the internet, so had to make one up!! These go together fast and would make great favors for ;hildren, teachers, well…….just about anyone that loves candy. They hold two Hershey Nuggets

Supplies

Stamp Set: Sealed With Love (142815)

Card Stock: Real Red (102482) 3 ½” x 1”; 2 – 1” x ¼”

Whisper White (100730) 4 5/8” x 1 ¼”, ¾” x ½”

Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack (142733) 3” x 1”

Ink: Real Red (126949)

Punch: Confetti Hearts Border (137415)

Big Shot: Layering Circles Framelits Dies (141705)

Instructions:

Score the Real Red Card Stock 3 ½” x 1” at 1 1/8” and 2 3/8”

Run the Real Red piece through the Big Shot using the smallest Layering Circle Framelit, rounding

both ends (Sharon speaking, we actually used the Large Oval punch to round the ends, it fit a little better since the opening is more oval than round)

Score the Whisper White 4 5/8” x 4 ¼” at 5/8” and 3 5/8”

Run the bone folder over each end of the Sending Love Designer Series Paper to loosen up the

fibers. This helps mold the paper for the “bend” of the mailbox

Add Tear & Tape to both long sides of the Designer Series Paper and adhere to center part of the

Whisper White 4 5/8” x 1 ¼” piece.

Burnish the score lines on the Whisper White piece well. Add Tear & Tape to each end of the

Whisper White piece.

Wrap the Whisper White piece around the Real Red piece starting with the 5/8” score line and the

gently folding (not creasing) the top over and adhering the other end.

Adhere two Hershey’s Nuggets together with Tear & Tape. Add a piece of Tear & Tape to the

bottom nugget and slide into the mailbox.

Add glue dots to the back part of the Real Red and adhere

Adhere the two pieces of Real Red Card Stock 1” x ¼” together and add to the side of the mailbox

with glue dot.

Stamp “Sending Love” on Whisper White ¾” x ½” and add to flag with glue dot

Punch small heart with Confetti Heart Border Punch and add to front with glue dot

This cute little mailbox could be used for other occasions too.

Hope you enjoy this!

Remember the Sale-a-Bration is still going on and the opportunity to earn free product.

If you don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator I would be honored to be given the opportunity to be yours. Here's a link to my online store: https://www.stampinup.com/ecweb/default.aspx

"Sending Love" to My Three (Grand)Sons

I am blessed with three gorgeous (biased of course) grandsons!  Luke 10, Jacob 6 and Davey 2.  All 4 years and 4 months apart.  They are the loves of my life (besides my own son and daughter of course).  As you can see, Davey wasn't having any of this picture taking, unusual for him.

There is something about grandchildren that is so special.  Like when their eyes light up when they see you and even though they might be getting too old for it, still let you hug them.

My grandsons, especially the middle one, love interactive cards.  So I coupled a Twist & Pop card with the wonderful Valentine bundled Sealed with Love stamp set and Love Notes Framelits. Love, Love, Love that bundle!  Here's what I came up with:

Here's the link to the Pop & Twist card directions that I followed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPrvxgXsyu8&feature=youtu.be

I used the Sending Love DSP, a retired heart border punch, the triple banner punch and the You're Sublime stamp set for Luke and Jacob and the Shooting Star stamp set for the front of Davey's card.

Inside I used the Love Notes Framelits, DSP, Sealed with Love Stamp set and Dear Heart (rstamp set for the boys' faces.  Two of them are blondies and one is a brunette.

On the panels I used Gorgeous Grunge to lay down a background.  Didn't want them too girly! Inside each of the envelopes there is a card spelling out the message I "heart" you and their name in the first one.

Since the envelopes were a little thick I decided to make a package and send it off in a Flat Rate box.  They also got a little "mailbox", like this one:

I will put the directions in a separate post.  Each mail box holds 2 Hershey Nuggets.

Then, thinking that was probably not enough I decided to put in a little gift bag.  In the January Paper Pumpkin they had this cute little Valentine Gift bag.  I wanted to make them less girly so I came up with a template.  This is the result:
The one on the left is the one from Paper Pumpkin, mine is on the right.  Here is the template that I created:
I will post directions in a separate post.

I filled some of our Stampin' Up! 2" x 8" clear bags # 141703  with mini M&M's and tied it with some red ribbon.

They'll love those.  All of these things took up most of the space in the Flat Rate box and sent it off.  I hope they love them!  I know I loved making everything for them.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Here's a list of the supplies.  If you enjoy this and do not have a Stampin' Up demonstrator I would love to be given the opportunity to be yours.
