Poinsettia Place Suite: Tips and tricks

Image
The Poinsettia Place Suite is going to be one of my go to's for years to come.   Pairing the poinsettia dies with the velvet paper creates a stunning flower, especially when accented with the Beaded Pearl embellishments! In my video I share with you a couple tips for using the poinsettia dies and stamps.  Here are some photos of all the elements that I demonstrate in the video:     Mark your poinsettia dies, that have the embossing centers,  as you take them off the cardboard so you know which petal goes with which and also mark them to match the stamps. I also use the Shimmery Crystal Effects on the berries to give them some dimension and a little shimmer. I hope you find this video helpful and enjoy this suite as much as I do! Make sure to order the velvet paper for stunning...

Gilded Autumn DSP: do the punches match the images?

Image
I was working on some of my Baker Boxes for the upcoming craft fair. When it came to one "flavor" I couldn't decide on the embellishments for the tag.  I had already made the tags from the Brushed Metallic cardstock that is part of the Gilded Autumn Suite.  When I looked at the suite again I thought that the punches with an acorn, maple and oak leaves would be great.  My initial idea was to punch them also from metallic paper.  So I ordered the pack of punches. When they arrived in the mail they were a little larger than I expected. Then a light bulb went on and I wondered if the punches would match up with the images on two of the different pattern papers in the suite.  I had to wait overnight to try because I was working on sleep deprivation. So this morning I meandered into my craft room, brought out the DSP and cut out a small section.  I didn't want to cut too large a piece in case my idea didn't work. Was I thrilled to find out that they mat...

Nothing's Better Than......

Image
I had been looking at the "Nothing's Better Than" bundle but wasn't sure if I should get it.  Then I had ordered a duplicate bundle to was trying to exchange the duplicate for some pre-order items from the Aug - Dec 2020 Mini (Holiday) catalog.  Found out that I couldn't do that, so when Stampin' Up!© called me to tell me that I panicked and had to think of something QUICK! So I chose this bundle.         It's been sitting in my craft room until I felt inspired.  There are so many cute things on Pinterest but I wanted to create my own designs because I want to sell the cards on Etsy.  I had one card that I CASE'D on from Pinterest I had for sale on Etsy and was informed by the original designer to take it down.  So now I'm leary of CASE'ing cards if I might eventually sell them. So on about 5 hours of sleep I got up and wandered into m...

Reference Guide for Layering and Stitched Shape sizes

Image
This morning I posted a video of my DIY idea for storing my dies.  I thought, why not also have a handy reference for the sizes of the different layering dies: Layering Circles, Layering Ovals , Layering Squares,   Stitched Shapes,  and  Rectangle Stitched dies. (If you click on the name it will link you to more information.) So here's a easy reference for you to print out and put near or with your dies, or pin to one of your Pinterest boards to help with layering your cards. I'm printing this out and putting right next to my dies on my door so I can have a quick and handy reference for which die to choose.  Hope this helps you too! Sharon

Quick & Easy DIY Die Storage

Image
Do your dies look like this? Slip sliding all over on your magnetic sheets? Mine do and they drive me crazy!  Most are okay except for my Layering Circles, Layering Ovals, Stitched Shapes and Rectangle dies.  I've been mulling an idea for a few months now.  The room in my craft loft is very limited so so were my ideas for a solution.  I have no available wall space. Then it occurred to me that I could use the inside door of a cabinet in my loft.  I was pondering an idea last night and as I was working on it this morning it was a little too labor intensive just to make it look pretty. I asked myself: Why am I going through all this trouble?  So here is my simple idea... ...that uses glue, magnetic vent sheets from the home improvement store, a piece of heavy board (that may be included with your vent sheets), or backing from our pattern paper or foam board and if you choose, some window sheets or Velcro.    ...
