Baker's Box for Yankee Votive

Hi!  well, today I attempted my first video tutorial.  I found that I do need to speak a little louder so please forgive the soft voice.

I've been working on projects for the upcoming fall craft fairs.  One of those is a Baker's Box or Milk Carton box for a Yankee Candle Votive.  I found a smaller one by Sam Donald, a Stampin' Up! demonstrator from the UK.  Her box was a little smaller, so I adjusted the measurements to fit the votive candle.

Please bear with me, I'm using some new equipment (to me) so still working out the bugs.

Here is my video.  Hope you enjoy it.

Survey Says!

I will be offering an online Stamp Of the Month.  My question is, what would be your preference:

  1. You get a kit in the mail of 3-4 cards, all pre-cut and stamped and you put them together, everything included except adhesive, including directions
  2. You get a Featured stamp set in the mail along with 3 cards, different designs using the stamp set that you stamp and put together.
Please let me know in the comments section which would work better for you.

This would be a sample of #2.  #1 would be getting a card like the one below and 2 other designs to put together.

Voting will end August 24.

Jar of Love

This week it's one of my cousins' birthday.  I have 33 first cousins on my dad's side and 57 on my mom's side.  Needless to say, I am not close with all of them.  Most of them are much older than me. But Sunday, I had breakfast with one of them who lives fairly close and we got a chance to catch up a little.  We only see each other maybe twice a year.

During our conversation of gardens, kids and lefse she mentioned it was her birthday this week.  So on Monday morning I made this card for her.  (I have a lot of cards on hand but it never fails, whenever it's for a friend or family member I always make a new one with them in mind.)

This is one of my favorite bundles from the current 2016-2017 Stampin' Up! annual catalog. It's called Jar of Love.

I have an affinity for fruit jars.  I have a collection of a few of the old blue ones displayed in my kitchen.  I used to can, mostly fruit and a few vegetables.  There is something comforting about going to your cellar or cupboard and seeing all those jars lined up on the shelf.  They looks so beautiful, you almost hate to open them up and eat them.

I CASE'd this card from Gosia Mackinnon.  I changed the colors a bit and used a birthday sentiment from Butterfly Basics.

The ink colors are Flirty Flamingo, Pool Party, Pear Pizzazz, Smokey Slate and Wisteria Wonder. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these colors, especially the Flirty Flamingo. You will probably see it a lot in my cards.

TIP: This is a photopolymer stamp set, to get the best results place your card stock on a Stampin' Pierce Mat.  With the Clear Stamps and Wood mounted stamps there is a little more give with the layer of sponge.  This will give your photopolymer stamps that same effect.  I have one mat for stamping and one for paper piercing.  They are pretty inexpensive.

The flowers I stamped off once for the background and the highlight is full strength of the same color.  I also did this for the greenery in the jar and the jar, which is stamped in Smoky Slate.  The water in the jar I stamped of twice before stamping it on the card.

I used Dimensionals on all the flowers.  I just love how they look, they seem to just pop right off the card!

Since there isn't a birthday greeting in the collection, I used the greeting from Butterfly Basics.

Would love to hear your comments.

Here are the supplies that I used for this card:

Is it Christmas yet?

There are only 141 more shopping days until Christmas!

Not to worry.  There's still plenty of time to make that list.  Unless you are a crafter.

We signed up for our tables again for the craft fair in Woodbury, near where I live.  This will be our 5th year.  When I relocated to the Twin Cities for a job promotion in 2011, one of my friends, Miss C, asked me if I would like to join her in at the craft fair.  At that time all my things were in storage, I was living in a hotel room and didn't really have the space or want to dive into something big, so I crocheted a few cotton dish cloths.  Here they are!

I did okay selling them. Then the next year I added a little more to my repertoire, since I was now living in my new house.  Now five years later, here I am with even more!!!!

Here are a few of the things from last year.

I have already made some of my mini cd case calendars.  This year I also add some regular size cd case calendars in a new format.  I did both a couple of years ago, which meant doing 24 designs, one for each month as well as each size, since the pattern doesn't always translate well from one size to another.  These are last years, I only did the mini calendars last year.

This is the new format, with a tear off calendar that I created on my computer. I tried to find some Peel and Stick calendars on the web, but you had to order so many and I didn't need the advertising part of it, so I made my own.

I'm also working on some little boxes for Yankee votive candles. I'm fascinated with making little boxes.  (I especially love watching YouTube videos by Sue Hammond Donald, of Pottles.com in the UK., she's so fun to listen too.  I hope one day I can make some videos that are as entertaining as well as informative as hers are.)

This particular one was CASE'd from Lea Denton, Crafty Spark:

I also have another design that I haven't downloaded from my camera yet.

I also made some Gift Holders for the cute little Bath & Body Hand Sanitizers.  I love the new oval shape.  I CASE'd this from Charlene Becker, but adjusted my size just a smidge, to give me more room to punch the oval in the little stand that holds bottle.

Here's one of mine from the front

and a side view:

Love to hear what you think of these, what works, what doesn't.

If you ever have any questions about either what I've posted or how to do something, please post something in the comments.  I would be happy to answer your questions.

If you don't have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator I would be honored to be given the opportunity to earn your business.

Well, back off to the craft room!  Hope you enjoyed these.  Thank you for stopping by.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Haven't taken an new photos of my projects but between looking at the new Stampin' Up Holiday catalog (that comes out to the public in September) and working on my crafts for the upcoming holiday craft fair in December, I've been busy.

Every year I  make some cute mini calendars that I sell.  These are the ones I made for last year's craft fair.

These are sold in a mini cd case (upper right of photo)  A couple years ago I also made some in the standard cd case size, but it was a lot of work coming up with designs for two different sizes,  Yesterday I came up with a new idea that I'm working on.

I also sell my cards, crocheted dishcloths, some cake stands that I have made   I also make some gift card holders, treat bags, exploding purses (my friend and co-vendor loves these :-).  This year I'm adding some little boxes with Yankee Candle votives and some little holders with Bath & Body hand sanitizers, all in holiday scents.

Can't wait to get back to my craft loft and get crafting!
