Double Slider card featuring the January 2019 Paper Pumpkin pillow boxes.

I was minding my own business this week, scrolling through Facebook and saw the cutest double slider card made with the pillow boxes from the adorable January 2019 Paper Pumpkin "Be Mine" Valentine kit!  So I knew I had to try this!

There was a double slider card video mentioned in the FB comments, which I watched and then watched about 3 others.  So for two days, off and on I tried to make a one for myself, unsuccessfully.  Luckily, (wisely) I used some regular card stock to make a template.  Nothing seemed to work, until I watched another video which was much simpler.  All of the videos of slider cards used regular card stock not the pillow boxes so a little adapting was involved.

So, this morning I made a 4th attempt, and I finally had some success!

I took a bunch of photos as I was putting it together, unfortunately my phone takes photos only when it wants to and it decided today was not the day it was going to keep any of them. :-( So I set about putting together this video using the pillow boxes. You will need two pillow boxes from the Paper Pumpkin kit).

I also created a template, for those who don't have access to the pillow boxes, that can be made with card stock.  You could also cut out the template on some decorative paper (in the Stampin' Up!© world we refer to this as DSP (Designer Series Paper), and glue them together. (A heavier card stock is needed for the pillow box.)

The template is available, as a digital download, along with the instructions in my Etsy store:
https://www.etsy.com/your/shops/CottageLaneStamper/tools/listings/state:draft,sort:update_date,order:ascending/681079767

The template can be printed and cut out on an 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of cardstock and then cut out.  Score on the dashed lines.

The slider panels on the inside are 2" x 4" (the ones in the video are 2"x 3" but the larger size works).

and the adorable DSP

I did use DSP on one of my pillow boxes, the cute little frogs talking to each other.

I also mentioned using the "Be Mine" Framelit set on one of the pillow boxes.  This Framelit set has some gorgeous hearts.

"First Frost" - Sympathy #2

Sadly, this morning, I learned of the death of a husband, of my former roommate and friend.  They moved out of state a while back and have lost touch.  He was such a sweet dear man.  I remember him, and have a photo somewhere, of his joy of receiving chocolate chip cookies from me, one Christmas.  The world has lost a little sunshine today.

I perused Pinterest for a sympathy card and discovered a beautiful card, that I CASE'd from Holly Krautkremer.

The supplies are basically the same as I used on my previous post this week.

The background layer is Crumb Cake, 4" x 5-1/4", the top Whisper White layer is 3-1/4" x 4",

The vellum leaves are left overs from the August Paper Pumpkin "Blissful Blooms", the (I'm not sure what they are called, they look like Poppy heads to me) are in Night of Navy, the larger flowers are in Merry Merlot and the small flower is in Balmy Blue.  The background fronds are die cut out of Mossy Meadow with the Frosted Bouquet.

The sentiment  is from the Lasting Lily SAB stamp set and is stamped in Night of Navy and die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The ribbon is a little non SU piece I had laying around.

The Whisper White layer is embossed with the Tin Tile embossing folder.

Thanks for stopping by, have a blessed day.

Now time to send it off.

"First Frost" Birthday

It's a busy month for birthdays.  I have 4 cards to make for the first week.  This card is for a dear cousin of mine who has stood by me through many trials these last few years.  She's cooked for me, carried my luggage, listened to me complain and hugged me when I needed it.

Actually, she's my cousin's daughter, and we are 1 year apart.  We share a love of creating, (she makes beautiful quilts), gardening, genealogy, cooking (she's a terrific cook) and laughter, lots of laughter.

I CASE'd this beautiful card from Aurora Lopez.

This card is also created with the "First Frost" stamp set and the coordinating "Frosted Bouquet" Framelits.  This set came out as a suite in the 2018 Holiday catalog and the stamp set and Framelits have been carried forward, which thrilled me when I heard that!  It's not just for "Christmas" any more Charlie Brown! It has some beautiful sentiments and florals for the whole year.

The card base is Melon Mambo and the basket weave layer is Crumb Cake, embossed with the "Basket Weave" Dynamic folder.  The Dynamic embossing folder is a little thicker, so you only need the platform and one clear plate on top when using your Big Shot. (Hint: to get a deeper impression, spritz your card stock with some rubbing alcohol, it dries faster than water).

The oval is die cut using the "Layering Ovals" Framelits, the Whisper White in the simple oval, 2nd from the largest (2-3/4" x 3-3/4") and the Melon Mambo with the largest scalloped oval.

I am so in love with the exclusive "Disinktive" stamps that Stampin' Up! has developed in the last couple years!  They give your stamped image such a realistic look.  Absolutely beautiful!

The leaves/sprig are stamped in Pear Pizzazz, on the Whisper White oval and the second is stamped and then die cut with the "Frosted Bouquet" Framelits.  A few of the flowers are also stamped on Whisper White and die cut.  A couple of flowers are stamped on the white oval.

The banner is stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White and then the ends hand cut into a banner.  The outside sentiment is from "Balloon Celebration" and the inside sentiment is from the "Stitched All Around" stamp set.  A wonderful set with lots of amazing sentiments and also has a coordinating Framelit set, "Stitched Labels".

A little "Linen Thread" is used to finish off this card, tied in a little bow and adhered with a glue dot.

Here are the supplies, which are available in my 24/7 shop: here!  If you don't have a demonstrator I hope you will give me the opportunity to be yours!

"Tasty Truck" Birthday card

Last night as I was switching my calendar over to the new month I spotted a birthday.  I've been trying to find out this friend's birth date for a few years.  It was easy when we worked together, I had a sheet in my desk that listed all my coworkers birthdays.

Well, last year I finally got the date!  And don't ya know, I missed it, it was last week.  So, even though this card is late, it's at least closer than I have gotten in YEARS!

This sweet friend is one of the hardest working women I know.  She not only has a daytime job, but also works a ton of festivals with her husband and their food truck most weekends in the spring, summer & fall.  I've even helped out a couple times.  Typically they do":THE BEST" kettle corn, funnel cakes, but they also do fry bread tacos.  Since my retired "Tasty Truck" set not only has a food truck but also tacos, so I thought it perfect for her!

I had gotten up in the middle of the night at about 2 and couldn't get back to sleep. After reading, tossing and turning, looking at my phone at card ideas on Pinterest, organizing my Pinterest and on and on at 6 I finally got up.  Took out my stamp set and started working on this card.

Not only is the stamp set retired so is the DSP. This card is done in Tempting Turquoise, Lemon Lime Twist and a little bit of Pineapple Punch.   I also used some really long-time retired metallic pencils, from Stampin' Up!, on the hub cabs!

Those tacos are pretty big aren't they!  Hahaha!  Must be family sized!

I like to keep a lot of my favorite stamp sets that are retired, for just this reason, personal cards for friends and family.  Yesterday, I actually cleared off another shelf on my bookshelf, of books, to make room for my new stamp sets.  Yeah, I'm a hoarder!  Though I do have a few I've sold on eBay.

Anyway, I hope she likes this.  If  you know her, you will see her initials in the flags.  :-)  I'll mail it off today.  She's not on Facebook so I'm sure it will still be a surprise.

It's finally warmed up here in Minnesota, from 30 below to a balmy 15 degrees, so I'll now venture out to the mailbox.

Hope you enjoyed this project.

Take care dear friends!  Thanks for stopping by!

God Bless!

Sharon

First Frost - Sympathy card

A good friend mine lost her brother, suddenly, this week.  Right now, on top of that, she and her husband are both in the midst of health issues.  Unfortunately/fortunately it happened on the day that I had signed up on Meal Train to bring them a meal.

It was good to be able to visit with her for a little while. I almost felt like I was imposing during her grief. Then I think about when I have lost people in my life, my husband, my dad & mom and it would have been nice to have someone there just to sit with me.

I love this "First Frost" set that Stampin' Up! blessed us with in the 2018 Holiday catalog and then further blessed us by carrying the stamp set and Framelits (though no longer bundled*) forward after the holiday catalog ended.  The only disappointing part is that the Designer Series Paper is no longer available, and it's absolutely gorgeous, with a beautiful shimmer to it.

Here's the card that I created for her and her husband. I wanted something soft and muted and this paper absolutely fit the bill.

The background layer is Soft Suede with the retired "Frosted Floral" DSP,  I die cut a circle out of Soft Suede with the "Stitched Edge" Framelits and then a circle out of vellum with the "Layering Circle" Framelits, in the matching size.

I used the "Frosted Bouquet" Framelits which coordinates with  the "First Frost" stamp set and die cut two vellum sprigs and then sponged Old Olive on the back side of another piece of vellum and die cut a sprig of that also with the Framelits.

The sentiment is from the "Lasting Lily" set, from the 2019 Sale-a-bration Set, another absolutely beautiful stamp set! (But you can't buy it, only get it free with a qualifying purchase until March 31, 2019)

The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede on a piece of Whisper White then die cut with the "Stitched Labels" Framelits.  I absolutely love this set of die cuts they are so elegant!

Here is a list of the supplies, which you can purchase here in my shop, 24/7. If you don't have a demonstrator, I'd be blessed to be given the opportunity to be yours! I do appreciate all my loyal customers! Check to the right for the current host code for February 2019!
