Cap & Gown Gift Card Envelope

This week I listed a some Graduation cards and some charms on Etsy.  I was thrilled when I got an order within the first day!  Two of the things ordered were graduation cards.  I knew that I would have to make one because the sample was from 2022.  The other was a gift card holder that looked like a cap and gown.  Well, I hit a snag.  I couldn't find the card in my stash, I couldn't find it on my blog, I wouldn't find it on my YouTube page and I couldn't find it in my notes.

I found a gift card holder, made with the Envelope Punch board, but when I cut it, it was much larger than the gift card holder I had made. So.......what did I do? I found one with the right size cardstock, gathered my supplies and started a video.  Unfortunately I have a tendency to slowly move off camera range.  The card turned out perfect!

The video was really bothering me. so I redid it last night starting at 11:00 pm.  I should have been sleeping.  I made some adjustments to the camera and voila! It turned out much better.  Here it is:

As promised here are the supplies and dimensions.

Black cardstock 5" x 5" and a 2" square for the mortar board

Embroidery floss and a black brad for the tassel, I'll show you how to do this in the video as well as everything else, from start to finish.

White cardstock 3-1/2" x 2" for the inside shirt/card.  If you don't want the shirt cut the white cardstock 3-1/4" x 2".

I also used an Envelope Punch board.  Stampin' Up!© does not carry them anymore but here's a link to one on Amazon Envelope Punch Board. We R Memory Makers made the boards for Stampin' Up1© in our company colors. Photo from Amazon.

I also used scraps of Crushed Curry for the bow tie and the pocket square.  And a black scrap about 1/4" wide and 3/4" wide for the pocket.

The bow tie was stamped from Snow Place and die cut from Snow Friends, these friends retired a few years ago but I have used them a lot!!!!

I also used two other retired stamp sets, Round of Applause and Itty Bitty Greetings

I also used the Banner Punch for the pocket square, just cutting a bit of 1/4" Crushed Curry and for the sentiment on the front.

The congratulations sentiment on the front is cut from a 1/4" piece of white cardstock scrap and die cut from the Itty Bitty Banners, or you can use the Banner punch.  This is adhered to a 5/8" piece of silver foil.

If you are interested in the other cap and gown card I made, here is just a quick shot I took before I mailed it off.  I can do this one in another video.

You'll find these and other graduation cards on my Etsy shop.  I have also started making charms for scissors, purses, zippers, etc. and inspirational charms for vintage looking hairpin bookmarks. I will be adding more charms in the future. Let me know if there is something that you would like to see, and I'll see if I can accommodate you.

I hope you enjoyed this video!  Make sure to like, share & subscribe!  You can also catch me on Facebook Cottage Lane Stamper & Friends

Thank you for sharing part of your day with me!
