Sympathy Card for friends

This past week another friend of mine lost her father.  This family is special because our kids grew up together.  Our daughters were the same age and so were my son and her oldest son.  We had moved into this new neighborhood and it was a great place to raise my kids.  I even have a photo of our kids, from the school newspaper, walking into school together their first grade.  I'll show this photo later in the post.

This card was made from retiring stamp sets, Forever Fern, Daisy Delight and Heal Your Heart, and the coordinating dies Forever Flourishing and the medium Daisy Punch and also the Layering Oval dies.

I know you probably don't have all of these in your stash, but think of this as a jumping off point of inspiration.  I CASE'D this card from Sharon Davern.

I also stamped on the envelope.  The colors I used are Flirty Flamingo, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive & Garden Green. I also added some gems, that were clear and colored them with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends alcohol marker.

On the middle of the daisy I wanted to add a little something to the center.  I didn't want to cover up the stamped image so I used some Crystal Effects to add a bit of clear shimmer.  You can get something similar to this called Glossy Effects, Stampin' Up!© carries this from time to time.

I mentioned a photo of our kids on their first day of school. My daughter has the pony tail, our neighbor's daughter is holding her hand.  Directly in front them is my son and in front of him is our neighbor's son, you can just make out his little blonde head.  It was nice that they had someone to show them the ropes. I myself had attended 5 different grades schools, due to moving around, from one side of town to another and then from one town to another, due to my dad's employment. It was always hard being the new kid in school. I made a promise to myself that my kid's wouldn't have to go through that.

Funny thing is that on their way home from school on the bus, they missed their stop.  When the driver got to the end of the line, they were still on it.  Scared! The driver called the school and the school call myself and the other mother.  They finally made it home, with their mamas, safe and sound.

I hope you enjoyed this card as some inspiration.  If you don't have a Stampin' Up!© I would love to be yours.  Just search for my name, on the landing page, where it says Find A Demonstrator.
