September 2018: Winter Woods

Our third card this month has more of a winter theme.  This new stamp set, Winter Woods, was intentionally created to pair with our Rooted in Nature stamp set as well as our beloved set Lovely as a Tree.

We used Crumb Cake for the layers and also to stamp the trees,  The trees are stamps twice, from right to left to fill in the whole card space.

The sentiment is from a retired Paper Pumpkin set, but you could use anything here.  I also stamped a little pine cone in Crumb Cake and then embellished with 3 epoxy dots.

I tried tucking the trees behind the snow bank but I like this better. 

Anyway, I love the beautiful white "birch" trees.  I bet if you drew little lines on the trunks it would make it look more realistic but I didn't think of that until just now.

Again I used the Multipurpose Adhesive sheets on the trees.  So much easier to attach the trees.  See my post on September 19, 2018 for how I found it easiest to apply. 

There is a great die in this bundle to make the snow banks!  I've had to freehand cut them before or tear paper and I like this much better, since mine never seemed to look just right.  A little Wink of Stella would be a plus to on the snow and trees.  Also some of our shimmer paint, on page 38 in our 2018 Holiday catalog would be great too on the trees and snow.

September 2018: Stitched Labels

Our second card also uses the Stitched Labels Framelits.  I love this bundle. I can see I'm going to have a lot of fun with it.

This card uses one of the new embossing dies, shown above on the Coastal Cabana layer, from the upper left-hand corner to the bottom right-hand corner.

I also love, love, love the lacy label.  It looks like a doily to me.  Yes, I'm old and still love doilies!

Underneath the sentiment label and the Night of Navy Gingham ribbon is a strip of Whisper White stamped with the little xxxx'x from the stamp set.

I also took some of our Basic Pearls and colored them with our Bermuda Bay (Light) Stampin' Blends maker.  You can also do this to our rhinestones.

September 2018: Happy Birthday Zipper Gift Card

 This month I wanted to challenge myself and add a little variety to class, so we made a gift card with a secret compartment for a gift card!

My sister-in-law, Lisa, turned me on to this one. We were talking about the a new bundle in the Annual Stampin' Up! catalog, Stitched All Around and she asked me if I had seen the zipper card made with this set.  I hadn't so, she sent me a link and I set off to come up with one for class.

I wanted to stamp an arrow of some kind on the part that zippers off and found one from a retired Christmas set. My class stamped it in Mossy Meadow, instead of the Old Olive here and it shows up much better.

We also punched a couple of 1/2" circles in Old Olive to put on the end of the zipper to make it easier to grab hold of.  One of my independent thinkers put on on each end since my stamp had arrows going both ways.  :-)

See the cute little pocket with the gift card secreted away!  I combined a couple of different ideas I found on Pinterest. 

When making this card, make sure that you do not seal the bottom before you slip in the gift card.

I like to used the Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets when I am working with intricate dies, like the Happy Birthday.  I've seen a few methods on how to apply.  For me, I've found it easiest if I cut a piece of cardstock and adhesive sheet the same size.  Peel off the protective waxy sheet exposing the adhesive then attach it to the cardstock.  I then cut place the Framelit die on top of the cardstock and run it through my Big Shot.  You may have a little extra cardstock left over with the adhesive, but I save those bits to use for another project, if the size warrants it.

The DSP that we used is retired, but this would work with any DSP.

What makes the zipper your ask? Well, its one of the bars shown above, the top one.  It makes cute little perforations and you will need to run it through twice about 1/2 inch apart.  The other bar makes little xxxxx's

Love affair with Stamparatus.......

continued!

Yesterday I shared with you a couple of reasons why I love my Stamparatus!  Today I was reminded of another reason why I love using this tool!

I'm working on my February mini calendars and wanted to use my retired Sealed with Love stamp set and the Love Notes Framelits.  I'm making little envelopes for the calendars and little tiny notes to put into the envelopes.

I wanted to stamp the little row of tiny hearts at the top of each little note.  Hmmm, I thought to myself, I wonder if I can stamp a row of the hearts, move the plate down to the next notch and stamp another?????   Sure enough!  It worked!  I was able to stamp one image after another, perfectly and quickly just by moving the plate down a notch. No other stamping tool on the market, so far, has the ability to do this. And again, I was able to re-stamp when my image was not as crisp or clear as I wanted it. 

Now you can see why I am so impressed with this tool.  It has an abundance of ways that it can be used.  All to make your stamping life easier!

Fall, Craft Fairs and Stamparatus!

Wow! Can't believe it's September already!  The summer has flown by.  You know what that means.  Sending in applications to reserve tables at craft fairs.  I will do my two usual ones this year.  With my chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia I have to pace myself.

One of my staples at the craft fair are my mini-cd calendars.

Last week I printed out all the calendars and yesterday I cut them up.  I usually do 4 - 6 months per sheet of paper, depending on how big I make them.  The calendars shown above are about 3.5" x 3.5".  This year I'm making them a big taller so I have more room for the design.

This morning I stamped January.  What takes me the longest is coming up with a designs. Sometimes getting an idea that looks good to me can take hours/days and lots of trial and error.  Once I had my design down stamping was a breeze this year with my Stamparatus!

Usually I have to reprint and re-stamp several.  I love it too, because if my stamp didn't stamp completely or I want it  a little darker I can re-stamp and not have to worry about trying to line it up again.  Saves a lot of time, frustration and PAPER!

I had stamps on all four sides of the plates and three different ink colors.  So I ink up one plate, stamp, second plate, stamp, third plate stamp and fourth plate stamp.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE MY STAMPARATUS.  I had two other brands, one a very popular one and this stamping tool is far and above the others.  I'm not just saying that because I'm a demonstrator.  I'm being totally honest here.

If you do any amount of repetitive stamping, like for Christmas cards this is a must have tool.

To go with the Stamparatus I would also suggest getting our new Simply  Shammy to clean off the plates and stamps.  (Oh and fingers too!)

Much easier than trying to clean the stamps off when they are not mounted on a block. You can wipe them off while they are on the plate and also any excess ink that might get on the plate. It can be stored in one of our stamp DVD cases.  I cut mine in two and put them the wood block cases.  They stay moist in between uses but won't go moldy because the cases are not air tight.  It will become stained but the ink won't come off on your hands.  Just rinse it out from time to time.

I would also recommend getting the Stampin' Spots for inking your stamps on the Stamparatus plates.

You can customize them to whatever colors you need, just add ink from your ink refills!   You also get less ink on the plates.  Or if you have the Ink Spots from your Paper Pumpkin kits.  I have some but not all the colors that I needed.

If you are going to be making some of these calendars remember to order some extra blades for your paper trimmer!  Always nice to have these on hand.

Well, back to stamping, now to come up with a design idea for February!
